Stress & all things stress related.

Stress. We all feel it to varying degrees & respond to it in varying ways.

One of the biggest problems facing people in their everyday lives is the forever tug of war of coping with stress. Let it get ontop of you too much? You’re in for a bad week. Relaxing too hard…probably going to be a bad week in the future.

Stress & the feeling of being stressed is actually a somewhat normal response to stuff that you know…should be stressful. If we didn’t feel stressed when we see a giant snake or a rather large traffic accident, a heap of bills coming out at once etc…we probably wouldn’t DO anything about it. It’s a normal signal which tells you hey, we gotta do something about this big ol problem right here!

The reason stress gets a bad wrap is because of chronic stress and the associated toll it takes on your health & wellbeing. This is what will actually do you a great deal of slowly applied damage in the long run because it’s like having giant snakes and traffic accidents non-stop…and it’s everyday of your life. If you can never get on top of the source of the stress, it’s just kind of going to stay there till A. You get lucky or B. It sits you down in a chair and makes you confront your problems all at once. OR … C. Cope with donuts.

Donuts aside, there are many reasons you can feel stress and it ranges so widely from person to person. Divorces, breakups, financial problems, physical burnout, mental burnout, domestic issues, isolation etc etc etc It could go on until the end of time. The responses of stress however, do tend to be much more mappable. We’re all different but the same.
Most people are resilient to stress but when an inevitable overload happens at one point in your life, it will start by sucking the joy out of your life. All of a sudden you don’t want to do anything, you feel overwhelmed, you struggle to sleep, you start struggling to eat or struggling to control your eating. Mundane normal things begin to seem like too much and then the mind begins to feel trapped.

It’s basically a slippery slope and a feedback loop that needs to be stopped. We live in a world where we spend most of the time treating symptoms instead of root causes and this is why there is such a large industry for self-care, self-love, self-healing, physical & mental support avenues and stress dampening services.

This is where Massage & Massage Therapy can begin to excel.

Let’s be realistic, sometimes in life you just simply can’t take away the root cause of the problem despite your best efforts. It may take months or years to resolve a rather large stressor.
When you do eventually say, enough is enough and you have to try something to feel better, massage therapy is a perfect choice.
You book your session & then for the next hour you can choose between fully decompressing & relaxing or venting off some of the things bothering you! Your body & mind will both slowly being to shut down peacefully and give you some much needed respite from the things bothering you. It doesn’t solve or fix your stress issues, but it WILL make them more manageable, easier to contend with & just that little bit better.

Relaxation massages do it best but sometimes we physically hold stress in our bodies…and this is where a Remedial Massage will work best. If someone got rid of all of your hip pain or your lower back pain…your body will feel far less stressed because there are no signals going to your head every 5 seconds saying, ow. ow. ow. ouch.

A little stress is okay, chronic stress is not. Do what you can for it, that might just be some good ole massage therapy.
